Position Summary
Beach Cities Commercial Bank is looking to hire a Specialty Lending Manager with experience producing SBA loan products.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage SBA Team members and recruiting staff – be a true “Player/Coach” by leading and participating in guiding loans through the pipeline from application through funding.
Underwrite new Conventional loan products
Underwrite new SBA guaranteed loan products, primarily 7a and 504 loans following the Bank’s lending policy and procedures, SBA guidelines and general prudent lending practice.
Underwrite new State guaranteed loan products
Perform financial and ratio analysis on collected financial information to evaluate financial condition/capacity of each applicant.
Review real estate appraisal, environmental studies and business valuation to analyze collateral adequacy.
Prepare a comprehensive credit memo on each loan request for presentation to proper approval authority.
Monitor and service existing loan portfolio.
Prepare and update daily, weekly and monthly administrative reports
Promote and cross sell the Bank’s services and products.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Assist the Sales Team on government guaranteed leads
Reports to Chief Credit Officer
Qualifications:
5-10 years Commercial Lending with minimum of 5 years of SBA Lending and 3 to 5 years of secondary market experience
Formal credit training required
Must be detail oriented and possess verbal and numeric aptitudes as well as the ability to communicate effectively with others both verbally and in written communication
Extensive knowledge of government guaranteed products, credit policy, processes and procedures
Must have SBA/California State Guarantee portfolio management, servicing and document origination experience
NAGGL/NADCO Certification a plus

Position Summary
Beach Cities Commercial Bank is looking to contract a Commercial Underwriter who is responsible for analyzing the financial strength, creditworthiness, and risk profile of existing and prospective business clients. They gather, analyze, and interpret financial information to structure credit transactions - such as lines of credit, term loans, and commercial real estate loans -that align with the bank's risk appetite and lending policies. The underwriter prepares comprehensive credit memoranda, makes recommendations to loan committees, and monitors portfolio performance to manage risk.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Analysis & Risk Assessment: Perform in-depth analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and cash flows for Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) clients. Calculate and evaluate key metrics like debt service coverage ratios (DCR) and loan-to-value (LTV).
Loan Structuring & Underwriting: Structure new credit requests, renewals, and modifications. Identify risks and propose appropriate mitigants, such as collateral, guarantees, or financial covenants to comply with the Banks loan policy.
Credit Memorandum Preparation: Prepare clear, concise Credit Memorandums (CM's), documenting the borrower's operating performance, industry trends, and risk rating recommendations.
Portfolio Management: Monitor assigned portfolio for covenant compliance, track financial reporting requirements, and proactively indentify warning signs of deteriorating credit quality.
Documentation & Compliance: Ensure all loan documentation adheres to internal policy and regulatory standards. Work with legal counsel and loan operations to finalize loan agreements.
Collaboration: Partner with Relationship Manager (RMs) and Credit Officers to present credit information to management or the Loan Committee. Participate in credit calls as needed.
Required Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Experience: 3-5+ years of experience in commercial lending, credit analysis, SBA lending, or portfolio management.
Skills
Strong underwriting of GAAP accounting principles and financial statement analysis.
Proficiency in financial spreading software (e.g., Baker-Hill, Moody's Analytics, nCino) and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting complex credit topics.
Ability to work under time pressure in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Knowledge: Working knowledge of SBA, C&I, and CRE loan products.
